Who Am I?

My name is Matt.

People should love where they live!

Creating beautiful spaces is my full time job. I am a licensed and insured Realtor, General Contractor and Maker.

What’s with your name?

-Minnesota, it’s where I am from, it’s awesome.

-I married into a VERY Danish family and the word Hygge (Hoo-ga) became part of my vocabulary- cozy, welcoming, warm, open. I love the idea of home and what it means to have people gathered. This word embodies all of this.

Working with wood there are so many possibilities- from the variety of wood types, to what you can make from wood, and what you can use it for. I put my unique spin on it, using fire to bring out the beauty in each individual piece.

What I make and Why?

Function and beauty is what I shoot for. I saw friends and family buying stuff to decorate their homes at your typical local chains. Tables, wall hangings etc.. made who knows where, out of who knows what. This mass produced stuff had no heart and was low quality. Now obviously the thought was “where else can I get these types of items at this price” That’s when I started thinking, I can help folks out by making unique, high quality, real wood items that people can get for a reasonable price.

Using a variety of different woods, and different techniques I’ve made everything from tables (indoor and outdoor) to artistic wall hangings. You can see examples above. The items I build are something you can take pride in, knowing they are locally made and built to last, hopefully producing feelings of Hygge for many years to come.
